Fran Horowitz, Abercrombie & Fitch CEO: The future of retail is small, efficient, omni stores, and they're located where the customer tells us. I get really, really excited about what this means in the operations of the business, using predictive analytics to help us forecast demand. They're worldwide, a zillion stores, and their operations and execution, aside from their merchandising, I think they're always on top of the game. I think you're going to see an interaction with someone in a setting that doesn't look like retail, but looks like a fantastic experience. Nicholas of Sam's Club: Another retail standard that is really going to be important beyond the customer is energy.

Abercrombie & Fitch on Tuesday blew past estimates as it posted a 20% jump in sales thanks to a strong back-to-school shopping season and growth at both its namesake brand and Hollister. For its fourth quarter, Abercrombie expects net sales growth to be up low double-digits compared to the prior year, which is in line with the 11.6% growth analysts had expected, according to LSEG. The expected uptick is driven by a higher gross profit rate, lower freight costs and higher sales prices. Abercrombie CEO Fran Horowitz told analysts the company has seen an "encouraging" start to the holiday shopping season. During the quarter, Abercrombie saw sales at its namesake brand grow by 30% to $548 million and revenue at Hollister grow by 11% to $509 million.

Abercrombie and Fitch is in the midst of a major comeback, but the retailer is still being haunted by the alleged sins of former chief executive Mike Jeffries. The company was sued Friday for turning a blind eye to Jeffries' alleged misconduct, court records show. He's accused of running a sprawling sex trafficking ring that exploited young men hoping to become models for the brand. It comes just weeks after the BBC published an investigation into Jeffries and Abercrombie that made similar accusations. Following the event, Bradberry was flown to Nice, France, where he was again forced to perform sex acts on Jeffries, the suit states.

But they’re also rewarding the stores that are betting big on the right trends at the right time, for the right price. Mejuri: The Toronto-based jewelry retailer has intentionally positioned itself as a go-to destination for Millennials and GenZers for affordable fine jewelry. “When we founded the business, we wanted to redefine luxury and bring it a new experience within the fine jewelry industry,” said Masad. We just wanted to make fine jewelry part of everyday wear. We saw no reason for why there should be a barrier between fine jewelry and our customer.”He said Mejuri hasn’t wavered from that goal.

So I was surprised to see the company's new location on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan — it felt like a different brand. "This is truly the most powerful brand transformation that I've seen in my career," CEO Fran Horowitz told analysts in an earnings call in May. That brand transformation was evident during my recent trip to Abercrombie's store.

U.S. shoppers' spending in the summer ahead of the college and K-12 school year has grown steadily since 2015, according to the National Retail Federation, a trade group. The chain is stocking Adidas' Samba and Gazelle sneakers ahead of the new school year, it said. The challenge for retailers is predicting whether parents will buy less clothing and sneakers when the cost of necessities - such as pencils, notebooks and laptops - strains many households. Retailers face a "volatile time," said Jessica Ramirez, a senior research analyst at Jane Hali & Associates.

New York CNN Business —Abercrombie & Fitch has shed its perfume-filled mall stores, shirtless models and logo sweatshirts to win over Millennials and Gen Z.It’s working. Abercrombie (ANF) said Monday that its women’s segment was on track to deliver its highest holiday sales period ever, and its men’s division was growing, too. “Abercrombie was a key destination for holiday shopping,” Neil Saunders, an analyst at GlobalData Retail, said in a note to clients Monday. “This a further sign that the brand has successfully ditched the baggage of its past.”The brand, which has about 225 stores, plans to open around 10 Abercrombie stores a year over the next three years. Today, Abercrombie’s stores are lighter than they once were and its clothes are looser.
The Ohio-based apparel retailer's shares that have lost nearly half of their value this year were up about 19% after the company also reported third-quarter sales above Wall Street estimates, defying inflation's impact on non-essential spending. Chief Executive Officer Fran Horowitz in a post-earnings call said the company expects the fourth quarter to "mirror more pre-pandemic" holiday. Abercrombie, however, said there was a little bit of softness in demand during late October and maybe into the first week of November. Abercrombie expects fourth-quarter net sales to fall about 2% to 4% in fiscal 2022, compared with analysts' average estimate of a 6.3% drop, according to Refinitiv IBES data. Excluding items, it reported a profit of 1 cent per share in the third quarter, compared with estimates of a loss of 16 cents.

Hollister Co., the Abercrombie & Fitch Co. retailer popular among teens, is rolling out a new system that lets shoppers pass their carts to someone else for payment. “There was a lot of lost sales on the table,” said Samir Desai, chief digital and technology officer at Abercrombie & Fitch Co. The Share2Pay system will initially only be available to customers in the U.S. and U.K. using the Hollister app. It lets shoppers send their shopping carts to the ultimate buyer via text message in lieu of a traditional checkout mechanism. Shoppers using the Share2Pay system can send their baskets to their designated buyers along with a note.
